Today is the day, the 2014 Taste of Douglas County which is the largest and premier food tasting event in Douglas County. Hours are from 5 to 8 P.M. which will be held at the Douglas County Events Center which offers plenty of free parking.

“The Taste” will once again offer food samplings from some of the area’s finest food service establishments. Join the Old Stone Church, Outback Steakhouse, John Holly’s Asian Bistro, Pegasus Restaurant, Black Eyed Pea, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, B & B Cafe, India’s Castle, Casa Caliente Mexican Restaurant, Ali Baba Mediterranean Grill, Crave Real Burgers, and other area favorites. Over 50 food service establishments, big and small, casual and fine dining, participate.

New This Year: See some of the top chefs in the county compete in a cooking competition. There will be a judges award and a people’s choice award. Some of the participants include Jeff Richard from Old Stone Church and Crave, Dan Skay from Manna Restaurant at the Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Mike Hernandez from Blue Nectar Innovative Mexican Grill, Chef Michael from the Buckskin Saloon, and more. Judges include Teresa Farney, food editor of the Gazette newspaper, Sheriff Tony Spurlock, and more.
