The Nextdoor.com app lit up yesterday regarding a possible train accident near Wolfsenberger Road. The post was titled “Big train accident on Wolfsenberger,” and had dozens of comments about the alleged inncident.
CRCO reached out to the Castle Rock Police Department who confirmed there was not an incident regarding a train vs car.
We reached out to BNSF Railway who sent back the following statement:
“There were two Service Interruption on the Pikes Peak Sub. The Pikes Peak Sub in the subdivision which passes through Castle Rock. The Service Interruptions were mechanical, and as those were being resolved, train traffic backed up on the sub. The Pikes Peak Sub has a much higher volume of trains than usual. The historic flooding in NE, KS, SD has put some section of track under water in the Midwest. As a result, trains are being rerouted through CO.”
