Sponsored by the Dads of Castle Rock and Organized by CRXmas in July!

Upon my arrival, Blake Hamann and crew were already setting up and getting it all together. Soon after, Robert Zearing and several of the Dad’s of Castle Rock group arrived to join in with the support. There was an atmosphere of comradery of all involved. I arrived around noon.

As the day progressed, so did the crowd. Rain did not squelch the mood, nor the purpose. A raffle was being held, as the primary source of the fundraiser. Tickets had been purchased in advance, and ticket sales continued throughout the event. Drawing time was delayed due to so many wanting to support this cause and purpose. Detective Dan Brite, having been paralyzed from the waste down after being critically wounded in the line of duty, is an avid camper with his love for the great outdoors. This fundraiser was created to help build him a special trailer so that he may continue his passion. This event is how our community is paying it forward.

By mid afternoon the drawing began. Many prizes donated by many local businesses and artisans were raffled off first. The Grand Prize would be the last and final of the day. Detective Dan Brite was given the honors of this drawing. A 2010 Audi Q7 was awarded to the lucky winner. The energy of this moment was the highlight of this four-hour event.

Yes, the crowd had grown to overflowing into the parking area. How awesome it was for me to witness such a “coming out” of our community to support one of our own.
