Tony Spurlock is your new Douglas County Sheriff.
At 8:30A M this morning, Tony Spurlock was appointed as your new Douglas County Sheriff by the Douglas County Commissioners which includes former boss, Dave Weaver.
Only days ago, the former Sheriff, Dave Weaver, was appointed by the Douglas County Commissioners to replace Jack Hilbert who had resigned which left a vacancy for the Douglas County Sheriff whereas the former Sheriff (Dave Weaver) would appoint his replacement, Tony Spurlock.

Moments after 18th Judicial District Judge Paul A. King swore in Tony Spurlock as the 33rd Sheriff of Douglas County, Spurlock got down to business.
He announced his new undersheriff will be Holly Nicholson-Kluth, who has served the office since 1989. Undersheriff Nicholson-Kluth becomes the first woman in DCSO’s history to serve in the high-ranking position.
Sheriff Spurlock also appointed Tim Moore to serve as Chief Deputy of the Administrative Services Bureau, the position formerly held by Nicholson-Kluth. Moore was previously the Law Enforcement Bureau chief. The sheriff will fill that position with an outside hire, which he will announce next month. Chief Deputy Moore joined DCSO in 1990.
The sheriff also promoted Lt. Kevin Duffy to captain of the Detention Division. Captain Duffy was previously the head of the Special Investigations Section.
Spurlock’s other captains are Robert McMahan, Brad Heyden, Darren Weekly and Jason Kennedy.
Spurlock swore in his new command staff Wednesday morning during the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners meeting, thanking them for their commitment to public safety and the residents of Douglas County.
“This is an exciting time in law enforcement,” Sheriff Spurlock said. “I know it’s going to be a challenging and rewarding ride.”
