Some might call the star atop the rock magical. In fact, many have called it this since 1936 when the star was first built.

From the 1930s, the star has been a symbol of many things including hope, celebration, remembrance, loss, season and much more more.

When will the rock go dark? Historically the rock is shut off at the close of the Colorado Stock Show & Rodeo which closes on Jan 27th.

Until then, enjoy this centerpiece of Castle Rock that brings joy to so many.
