The Castle Rock Police Department with the help of the Colorado State Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Lone Tree Police Department have taken four male juveniles into custody this morning.

At 1:21AM on 10/6/2015 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding vehicle windows being smashed out near the 2400 block of Terrace Dr in Highlands Ranch.

At 2:02 a.m. DCSO received another call about a resident who caught a male inside his vehicle. Another suspect, who was located in the Honda, shouted, “We have a gun!” moments later, a shot rang out. The male also told the resident, “My friends are going to kill you.” According to the DSCO press release.

The suspects vehicle description was aired to surrounding agencies where at 2:18 a.m. Lone Tree Police Department officers located the vehicle traveling south on I25. Colorado State Patrol responded to the area to assist Lone Tree PD. When attempting to stop the vehicle, the suspects failed to yield and increased their speed to over 100 mph. The Castle Rock Police Department attempted to use Stop Sticks however were unsuccessful.

The suspect’s car exited I25 at Plum Creek and while making the turn onto eastbound Plum Creek and hit a curb disabling the vehicle. The four suspects jumped from the vehicle and two suspects were immediately taken into custody. The remaining two suspects fled and were later apprehended by the police K-9 unit.

This case is still under investigation.
