Zip line racers on the 'duel lines' at Phillip S. Miller Park

It was great weather for opening day of the Castle Rock Zip Line Tours. Today, adrenaline junkies were heard ‘buzzing’ through the air at 50 miles an hour over Phillip S. Miller Park.

Guides were seen shuttling numerous groups of 6 to 8 people, up the hill, to begin their adventure. Taking just under 3 hours to complete, the 10-run-course wraps around most of the south side of the park, with the final ‘duel’ run zipping people over the soccer field.

And the special $59 grand opening fee brought in the daring from all over the state to give the new attraction a try. John Henley, visiting from Canyon City, came up for after hearing about the opening.

“I’ve done the zip lines at the Royal Gorge over 20 times,” Henley Smiles, “When I heard this was opening in Castle Rock, I had to come down.”

A sister company of Royal Gorge Zip Line Tours, Castle Rock seemed like a nice fit for opening another location for high flying fun. “Opening a zip line in Castle Rock tied right in with our plans,” said owner, Ty Seufer, “We have four kids who love the outdoors – and we can’t beat having a location like this for our (family) business.”
