This is the weekend Castle Rock car enthusiasts have been waiting for. The annual Classic Rock Cruise In Car Show is happening this Saturday, June 20th. To get everyone jazzed up for the big event tomorrow, a block party and concert will happen this evening (6 pm, Friday, June 19) in the center of town.
“Wilcox St will be closed between 4th and 5th streets to allow dedicated “Classic Car” parking while we listen to the music of “The Parker Brothers Band”. The Downtown Merchants Association will be on hand to sell beer provided by the Lone Tree Brewing Company,” according to the Classic Rock Cruise In Car Show Block Party & Concert Facebook event page.
Pre-registrants should head over to pick up their show package at 1 Stop Tire & Auto during the event, along with first timers (also welcome) who are looking to register. ‘Day of’ entries will be allowed to show cars on a ‘space available’ basis.
Two questions for John Manka, owner of 1 Stop Tire & Auto, coop-coordinator of the event:
CRCO: Why you love doing this car show every year?
Manka: It’s been fun watching the car show grow over the years where it is now a “must attend” family event on what I call “Fathers Day Weekend”. Adding the Friday night street party has made the whole event even more special. The show has been a great collaboration between the Vintage Car Club of Castle Rock, the Downtown Merchants Association and the Town of Castle Rock as well as all our volunteers. It really resonates with the small town charm that we all love.
CRCO: What’s your favorite car in the show?
Manka:I love them all. I personally own a 60 Corvette, but love seeing all the old cars and trucks. However, I’m always interested in seeing which vehicles win the Mayor’s Choice Trophy as well as the Police and Fire Chief’s trophies.
