As fall colors fill the landscape and the air starts to cool, it lets us know the time is nearing for the ghosts and goblins to emerge from the shadows. In preparation for this year’s event, the town has been bustling with activity to prepare for all ages to enjoy a spooky Halloween.
The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue will be hosting their annual haunted house. They team up with area high school students to create a labyrinth of ghoulish fun. ‘Nightmare Castle’ is this year’s theme for four nights of frights. From start to finish, it’s 20 minutes of haunting noises, theme-costumed volunteers and other creepy creations that will make more than your hair stand up on end.
And the screaming good time also raises money for a good cause. Money generated helps fund the fire and police explorer programs here in Castle Rock. The programs give youth a chance to learn basic training in fire suppression and emergency medical services and about various aspects of law enforcement.
“It’s a chance for kids (12 and under accompanied by and adult) to have the haunted house experience here in town,” says Castle Rock Fire Chief Art Morales.
