Tonight, the Douglas County Republican Central Committee met at the Douglas County Fairground Events Center as the Commissioner Vacancy Committee to fill the vacancy for Commissioner District I caused by the resignation of Jack Hilbert.
The Vacancy Committee selected Dave Weaver to fill out Mr. Hilbert’s term. Dave Weaver was also chosen in last month’s primary by the Republican voters of Douglas County to be our candidate for commissioner in November. Mr. Weaver was sworn-in as commissioner after the meeting adjourned this evening, and took office immediately.

What does this mean for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office?
We can only assume however, our guess is Tony Spurlock will be appointed as the new Douglas County Sheriff.
