Jack Arrowsmith: Will Refrain From Issuing Same Sex Marriage Licenses Until There is Further Guidance From the Courts

Jack Arrowsmith, the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder will refain from issuing same sex marriage licenses in Douglas County until there is further guidance from the curts according to a letter published on July 14, 2014.

The letter explains how counties are considered to be a “subdivision of the state.” (30-11-101 annotation I. General Consideration) and that the Attorney General is considered the legal counsel of every subdivision of the state C.R.S. ยง24-31-101(1)(a), he has reached out for guidance on this matter.

According to a recent poll targeting Douglas County residents, they overwhelmingly support same-sex marriage.
