Jack Arrowsmith, the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder will refain from issuing same sex marriage licenses in Douglas County until there is further guidance from the curts according to a letter published on July 14, 2014.

The letter explains how counties are considered to be a “subdivision of the state.” (30-11-101 annotation I. General Consideration) and that the Attorney General is considered the legal counsel of every subdivision of the state C.R.S. §24-31-101(1)(a), he has reached out for guidance on this matter.

According to a recent poll targeting Douglas County residents, they overwhelmingly support same-sex marriage.
