Gary Godfrey

Ballots are in the mail, and you have a decision to make.

I am pleased to announce my formal endorsement of Gary Godfrey for Castle Rock Town Council, District 2. In the seven-plus years of running Velocity Radio (formally Castle Rock Radio), and now CRCO, I have never endorsed a local candidate, until now.

I first met Gary five years ago. His local landscape photography caught my eye. It was apparent through his work that he loves Castle Rock, through and through.

Over the years, I’ve gotten to know Gary very well and consider him a close friend. On Tuesdays, Gary and I, along with a few other close friends, would regularly meet for coffee. This was the one day that a few friends could come together and speak about politics, religion, and whatever else that was on our mind.

One thing that stood out to me from those meetings was how much Gary cared about his community. At times, he shared his displeasure with how the Promenade at Castle Rock turned out and how we as a town should have held the developers more accountable for the design that was sold to the town. It’s not walkable, it’s not visually appealing, and is an ‘eyesore’ of sorts. That being said, the Town is funded through sales tax revenue which is why properly managed growth is critical for a ‘win-win’ partnership between the Town and the residents.

There is something Gary has that I don’t see often. He is incredibly humble and always puts the interest of others before his. Because of this, I am 100% confident he will put the voice of his constituents first.

Another important quality I see in Gary is his unmatched loyalty and dedication to local business owners. In a perfect world, I think Gary would have a town filled with flourishing local businesses and less ‘corporate’ chains who not only drive up the real estate costs but also drive out local businesses that feed our economy.

Finally, Gary doesn’t aspire to be a politician. Gary has a servant’s heart and see’s this as an opportunity to serve his community. He has no hidden agenda and what you see, is what you get with Gary. Honestly, I can’t imagine a Town Council without Gary on it.

If you live in District 2 – please consider voting for Gary Godfrey. You won’t be disappointed!
