Boutique Dance Academy Booster Club is an independent non-profit that financially supports the competitive dancers of Boutique Dance Academy in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Involvement in competitive activities is a big investment of time and money for kids and parents alike. And while participating in those activities can get expensive, as parents, we seem to find a way to reallocate spending habits and make a way for our children to express their talents.

In order to alleviate some of the financial pressure for families with girls in competitive dance, a few moms came together to form Boutique Dance Academy (BDA) Booster Club in 2014. The non-profit was based on the idea of creating a financial cushion to offset  associated fees. “We got together when saw a need for financial help,” said Amy Guillen, Boutique Booster Club President. “With competitive dance, things can get expensive for families.”

Run by a volunteer group of moms, Guillen and the board know firsthand how fees can add up when your daughter is accepted to one of the top competitive dance companies in the area. Her own daughter has been dancing with the company for the last four years. “Along with paying for costumes and $40 to $50 for each dance competition, we also have to budget for our girls to attend weekend conventions for BDA,” Guillen added.

The solo dancers will perform for the ‘Snowcase’ event from 2 pm to 3:30 pm while the group dancers will be showcased from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.

In an effort to raise funds for girls at Boutique Dance Academy, for a second year, they will be hosting a winter showcase to share the talents of their dancers with the community. Girls ages 3 to 18, will hold their ‘Snowcase’ performance next weekend at Castle View High School. They are hoping that ticket sales for the event will raise enough to help them curb the costs for their dancers.

“We hope to reach our goal of $4000 to help each of our girls cover the cost of two dances at our first competition coming up in January.” Guillen stated. “It will be a fun evening with a performance that will show the talent of our dancers, a silent auction and chili cook-off and a dinner…it’s a great deal for $10 a ticket.”
