Employees at the MAC Center have been working behind the scenes to set up a sea of kid-friendly obstacles for this weekend’s liveBig race at Philip S. Miller Park. Put on with the Town, the event will include a 5K, 10K and a Family Adventure Run for athletes of all ages. Proceeds will help raise funds for the Parks and Trails Foundation; a large supporter of the Town’s park programs, facilities and services.

“We are hoping to use the money raised from the liveBIG event to help us fund some of the Phase 2 amenities coming to Philip S. Miller,” said Parks and Trails Foundation Executive Director, Jennifer Nagel. “This is also a chance for us to introduce people of all ages to the park.”

Tomorrow’s race, as is suggested by the title, is an event that will appeal to the whole family. More committed runners can choose to run/walk a timed 5K or 10K, while taking in the beautiful sights from the soft surface trails at the park.

However, if distance seems daunting or you have younger children who want to join in the fun, you’re in luck. Participants can also choose to jump, crawl over and through a set of kid-friendly obstacles – that includes the PSM Challenge Hill – along the shorter mile-long course designated for the Family Adventure Run.

“We have lots of things planned throughout the morning so we hope it will fun for the whole community,” Nagel added.
